UPPER BROOKFIELD COMPANY’S INNOVATIVE PRODUCT
IN LINE FOR TOP INDUSTRY AWARD
|
An innovative water saving device produced by Queensland company
Redwater Australia Pty Ltd has been declared a finalist in the national
GreenPlumbers® Awards – an industry showcase of environmentally-conscious
products and services for the plumbing industry.
A clever device called the Redwater ™ Diverter operates without electricity or a
predetermined action by the user, to save the cooled water from the hot water line that
is usually washed away down the drain.
The Redwater ™ Diverter is a small valve that is installed close to an area where hot
water is used, such as the kitchen and bathroom. It can service a single tap, like the
kitchen sink or multiple taps closer together, as in a bathroom. Once installed, the hot
tap is used normally.
Described as ‘novel’ and ‘inventive’, Redwater’s product has gained a finalist
position in the Innovative Product of the Year category at the 2007 GreenPlumbers®
Awards luncheon, to be held in Melbourne on 20 November 2007.
GreenPlumbers is an innovative training and accreditation initiative developed by the
Master Plumbers’ and Mechanical Services Association of Australia (MPMSAA) as
the gateway to a ‘green’ plumbing business.
The GreenPlumbers® Awards are a way for the Association to acknowledge the
contributions made to the environment by individual plumbers and manufacturers.
So far the GreenPlumbers training program has saved Australia more than 3 billion
litres of water, equivalent to 4700 Olympic-sized swimming pools and millions of
dollars in energy savings.
Chris Murray, Director of Redwater Australia knows he’s on a winner with his
product. “Due to its simple design and compact size at 85mm x 90mm it’s easy for
plumbers to carry in their work vehicles for on-the-spot sales, further promoting
sustainable plumbing practises and encouraging the customer to reduce their
environmental footprint” says Chris.
“It’s a big energy saver. This little product doesn’t require the use of pumps or power
sources and it only requires a plumber for installation. We’re proud of it.”
Andrew Willsford, co inventor says “We wanted to save this water the best way
possible so we created the Redwater Diverter”.
